According to a source close to the development, several factors influenced NTR’s decision. First, NTR currently does not want to portray a real-life character, especially a legendary figure from the past. Second, the Phalke biopic was supposed to be directed by Rajamouli’s son Karthik, not Rajamouli himself. Third, and most importantly, Aamir Khan is working on a Dadasaheb Phalke biopic directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Making another one would serve no purpose.
Recently, there were rumors that Aamir asked Hirani to rewrite the Phalke biopic. However, Aamir clearly told this writer that the project is on schedule.
Rajamouli is moving forward with the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic despite NTR’s departure and concerns from the bio-subject’s grandson, Chandrashekhar Srikrishna Pusalkar.
Rajamouli is searching for another actor to play Dadasaheb. Rumors about Prabhas being approached are completely false.
